Despite all our co-product development efforts 100 % utilization of the deposit and complete design out of any waste is very unlikely. Therefore, the digital flows of data should also be used in management of materials at the mine site, resulting in safer and less costly processes.  

These activities can include minimizing the movement of waste rocks by design, documenting as-built waste structures, data-enabled safe management of waste, process water recycling etc. 

The Integrated Waste and Site Management theme evaluates the performance of solidified, waste-based cover and filtered tailings structures, develops structural monitoring of storage facilities, and uses geophysical-geochemical imaging to find value in tailings.
