MinExTarget Workshop on GeoDays2023

The second MinExTarget Workshop was held on 17th March 2023 at the University of Helsinki as a site-event of the Finnish GeoDays 2023. The topic of the workshop was “Application of fingerprinting techniques in ore exploration”. More than 40 PhD researchers and professionals participated in the hybrid mode event – 10 in the lecture hall and 33 remotely. “Nine presentations given by the project’s Finnish, Norwegian and Polish experts covered the main topics of the projects’ development work including sample collection and preparation, heavy mineral concentration, workflow for the analytical protocol and sulfide mineral fingerprinting techniques, and the MinExTarget service and go-to-market plan. The feedback from the attendees was positive and the presentations led to interesting discussions both verbally but also in chat” tells Professor Pertti Sarala from the University of Oulu – Oulu Mining School OMS.

The workshop was organized by the MinExTarget project in cooperation with GTK and OMS.

There will be a second webinar series on the fingerprinting theme in Autumn 2023. That webinar will be focused on the final results of the development work in the project as well as future needs and the range of possibilities of the advanced fingerprinting techniques in mineral exploration. Furthermore, the floor will be also given to many student and PhD projects of the project.
