Newsletter Editorial

The MinExTarget project has been very active since the last newsletter. Work in all the work packages is going on performing promising results.

The online short course “Fingerprinting techniques in mineral exploration” in June organized by MinExTarget in collaboration of EITRaw Academy was a success and gained good feedback from participants. There were over 80 participants from more than 25 countries following the lectures given by experts all over the world. The participation to the practical part was limited to 25 attendees. At the moment a new webinar series on topics “Geochemical fingerprinting and indicator mineral research techniques in mineral exploration” in October is coming up and later this year there will also be a workshop on “Heavy mineral concentration and advanced identification techniques, and isotopic and trace element analytical techniques”.

There has been change in MinExTarget’s project personnel. Hugh O’Brien from GTK was appointed Scientific Coordinator to succeed Ferenc Molnar’s work. We like to thank you Ferenc for your valuable contribution to the MinExTarget project and Hugh congratulations, we know that the project is in capable hands! There has also been a change in personnel on work package “Testing and validation” as David Whitehead from GEUS started his work as work package leader. Thank you David for taking a lead in this important task.

In this issue you also get a peek on work at Research Laboratory of Geological Survey of Finland located in Espoo by Hugh O’Brien and get acquitted with Paavo Nikkola and his work in the MinExTarget project.
